Map of the walk
After parking in Maulds Meaburn follow the course of the Lyvennet south on the side of the beck furthest from the road. At the end of the village follow the sandstone wall for a short distance to the left and turn right on to a path heading towards Flass. On reaching the gates take the footpath through a green gate to emerge later in an open field after passing through a tunnel under a driveway.
Cross this field and pass through a gap style and continue along the side of the beck to pass through another gap style. Head across the next field again following the beck to pass Low Row farm, on your left, through a metal gate and then a high wooden gate to a road. Turn right over Monks bridge and then left into Crosby Ravensworth. Follow the path by St Lawrence's church and then over the stepping stones to the road. Carry on up the road as far as the Butchers Arms. Turn right here and follow the path over the stream and the continue up the path to Dale Banks.
Pass by the farm buildings following the path signposted to Oddendale.
Turn left off the path to cross Dalebanks beck at the newly erected bridge
and over the style to follow the path up a slight hill and across a field
to pass between derelict buildings to a gate with a way marker. Turn left
after the gate and head up hill slightly to another derelict building
keeping to the left of it. This is Lane Head. Go forward through a metal
gate to join a well trodden path. Turn left on to the path and follow it
as it curves slowly to the left to later join a section of path called Slack Randy.
This eventually brings you out onto the road at the far end of Crosby Ravensworth.
Turn left and walk back into the village passing the Butchers Arms and
retrace your steps back to Maulds Meaburn.
