Sedbergh is an historic market town dwarfed by the mighty Howgill fells. It dates from
Roman times and shows clear evidence of Saxon, Viking and Norman influence. The town used
to be a staging point for comercial routes across the Pennines. It is set at the confluence
of four valleys and four rivers and was involved in the once thriving woolen and knitting
trades.
