The castle at Greystoke replaces an earlier building made for Henry Howard in 1675 and was re-modelled
by Anthony Salvin in 1839.
St Andrew's church was built by William de Greystoke as a college in 1358 and replaced an earlier more simple church. The college was eventually founded in 1382 by Ralph, Lord Greystoke. The Market Cross shows the position of a weekly market and fair granted a licence by Henry III to Thomas de Greystoke. The Boot and Shoe Inn near the cross dates from the 17th century. |
